Amplexus
Amplexus is the mating embrace in frogs and toads, where the male grips the female from above so he can fertilise her eggs as she lays them.
It can last hours to days. Males develop rough patches (nuptial pads) on their thumbs to hold on. Seeing amplexus means you have a male and a female — and often that eggs are coming.
Amplexus is normal breeding behaviour, but breeding amphibians responsibly takes planning (space, food for the young, and homes for them). It is not something to trigger by accident.
