Cycling Tracker
Know when your tank is actually ready · updated September 7, 2026
Cycling a new tank before you add your axolotl is a waiting game with three stages — and it's genuinely hard to tell where you are. Log your readings and I'll tell you which stage you're in, what's normal, and when it's finally safe to add your animal. Your log saves right here in this browser.
This tracks the standard aquarium nitrogen cycle — a starting guide, not a substitute for testing your own water. Keep testing, and if your animal is already in the tank and looking unwell, see an exotics vet.

Your data stays here. The log is saved only in this browser (localStorage) —
nothing is uploaded, and there's no account. New to cycling? The
complete axolotl care guide explains water & cycling, and you
can check individual readings with the water interpreter.
The completion test: your tank turns an ammonia dose into 0 ammonia + 0 nitrite within about 24 hours.
