Fossorial
Fossorial means burrowing — a fossorial amphibian spends much of its life dug into the substrate, so it needs a deep, soft, moist layer it can disappear into.
Pacman frogs, African bullfrogs, spadefoots and many salamanders are fossorial. A fossorial animal that stays buried for long stretches is usually just being normal — as long as its weight holds and conditions are right.
