Dropsy

Also called: Edema · Bloat

Dropsy (edema) is a swollen, bloated, sometimes "pinecone" appearance caused by fluid building up in the body — a serious sign of an underlying problem that needs a vet.

It is not a disease in itself but a symptom (of organ, heart or infection problems). A frog or axolotl that puffs up all over, or an aquatic frog that looks like a balloon, needs an exotics vet — this is triage, not a home fix.
